Sara Buchanan

Sara Buchanan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida, and the owner of SSB Counseling Services, based in Jacksonville, Florida. Sara earned her Master of Science degree in 2023 at the University of North Florida in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Sara received Dialectical Behavioral Therapy informed training during her practicum and internship.

Sara first obtained experience working in an outpatient private practice, where she treated individuals with a variety of mental health diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Since graduating, Sara has specialized in treating eating disorders. She provides evidence-based care using the Health At Every Size (HAES) model for those struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating, or body image concerns. Sara offers a blend of therapeutic styles, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, CBT, and trauma-informed practices.

In addition, Sara has experience working with ages 12+ struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and more. She is also passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals. Sara has experience working in various levels of care, including residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs.

In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time with her cats, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and playing video games (particularly Pokemon and Animal Crossing)!
